Malaysian Travel Blogger Meetup - the 1st ever

>> 6.26.2012

Last Saturday, I managed to attend the very first Malaysian Travel Blogger Meetup that has been organized by Sedunia Travel (the same Travel agency that deals with my company though =]). The program started at 12 noon. At first I almost notified them that I couldn't attend it because my wife was having a school seminar that very day and she didn't know when the program would end.

So I just keep hoping that she could make it. In the end, she arrived home around 11:40a.m, we hurriedly getting ready and drove towards KL with the help of the google map to find the nominated place - Palate Pallette. Seriously, if I was still the guy whom doesn't have a smartphone with data plan subscription, I would never have found the place!!

I was late but when I reached the place, they kinda changed the tentative by having the refreshment first before starting the main event. Hannah welcomed me. A sweet blonde girl who even got me 2 glasses of drinks. Thanks Hannah!! I took a spot and had the hot wedges.

The speakers for the event were David Hogan Jr. (white t-shirt with cap), Dian Azura (The girl in the middle) and Ilya Houben (the black t-shirt guy) *refer top right picture..LOL!!* They shared about how to expand your travel blog, some more detail technical such as the SEO bla bla. When David Hogan said mentioned "around 50,000-100,000 visitors a month" to actually let yourself visible and approached by travel agencies and sponsors, I just enjoyed the day, listened to the useful tips and not jotting down anything. Coz I am wayyy~~~~~ far from that numbers. Hahahahaha!!!

I did come hoping to see how can I get sponsored trip by blogging. But it appears to be much more difficult than I've ever imagined. Huhu!! So I stick with blogging for fun lor..But the best part was that the speakers have different kind of views in gaining traffics and how to let yourself visible. So it's one of the main part that makes the talk interesting. So the audiences managed to see  how things can be done in different ways to achieve the same goal!! Exceliante!!!

Then before leaving, we had a group photo. Sorry~~~ the free pose version is kinda spoiled. Hahahaha!!! Thanks for coordinating this kind of event. Thanks to Sedunia Travel, thanks to the speakers and Hannah too...opss!!!

I dont really have time to prepared the pics one by one, so I made a collages of them. Hope that would still satisfy everyone!!! Please do drop your guys' links so I could be friend with all of you rawking bloggers!!!

Hey Hemy,

My pleasure! Glad you enjoyed it - I think having David and Ilya giving different opinions was really useful (for me, anyway), to see the different ways of going about travel blogging!

This group photo is even better than mine! I look so cute (like your baby kan). Hehe. And yes I don't have that many visitors yet to my blog but I guess we can all use the tips that was mentioned and put it to good use somehow.

50,000 to 100,000 unique visitors is a guide. My blog just manage to get past 5,000 per month and I did get an invite recently, the first ever after blogging on travel since Jun 2006. The main factor is to make people feel the presence of your blog. Too bad I can't attend the meetup after sending my intention do Sedunia travel due to more important function in policy making for the country. Hope to attend future meetups.

Really liked your photos as they gave a real sense of the meeting and the people. Would have been a great meeting to attend, perhaps in the future when I happen to be passing through KL and not in Australia!

And Ouya, which is about the size of a Rubik's cube. A bowler who can consistently pick up his spares can easily hold a 180 average without getting any strikes. It fizzles as the lights go out, and she says it's been great talking to you.
